Version 3.0 was Major
upgrade. Current Engine Version 3.25 (Note: requires screen resolution of
800X600. Changes to include 1024X768 pixels are
being designed) Note: Installing newer versions of the Engine does not
require uninstall of earlier versions. Existing maps and
data are unchanged. It is a good idea to download & install the
current version to take advantage of ongoing improvements.
Download Procedure: Click one of the download links
below then choose "Save" and "Save As" to save it to your
desktop. Double-click the file and it will automatically
unzip, install, and start the application. This applies to
the Engine and all Example Maps. (If should you elect to
Uninstall EverlyMap you will find a couple of mouseclicks is all
that will be needed- every bit as automated and simple as the
Installation phase.)
Note: If you are
warned by the unzip utility that downloaded files are damaged
or truncated, turn off any Web Accelerator and download
again.
EverlyMap
is for practical mapping by
the non-professional. "Example Maps" are linked to detailed "Map
Guides" for step-by-step tutoring.
Includes only the
Engine (Current Version), the User Guide, and
one Example Map to
demonstrate EverlyMap's presentation. The file name is
EMInstall.exe.
Revised by Version 3.20
Topic: Shapefiles are explored in
detail. Learn how to edit them quite easily. Shapefile
functions demonstrated are import, insert corners, move
corners, delete corners, conversion between polygons and lines,
moving shapes to different coordinates, rotating shapes, linking
groups of shapes to maintain their bearing-distance
interrelationship as the group is moved, edit data values, add
data items, delete data items, create Shapefiles, export
Shapefiles, themes and theme management. The file name is Example
1.exe.
Topic: Learn
to Import subsets of large Shapefiles. This Example Imports only the
state you choose from a Shapefile that contains the lower
48. Then Import only the cities of that state from a
Shapefile that includes all cities of the US and it's
territories. The file name is Example 2.exe.
Topic: Learn to create
a point on a map and automatically download a USGS PhotoMap that
includes that point. The file name is Example 3.exe. This
automation requires that the Microsoft .NET Framework be installed
on your computer. If it is not, you will be informed when you
attempt the Example. The following link is provided for your
convenience to download the .
Topic: This
example is one of a few which do not focus on how to use EverlyMap
but rather on just why anyone would want to go to the trouble in the
first place. It is a residential property map with photographs
attached to it's terrestrial features. Point to a
map object and right-click to see (up to 9) photos of it along with
any other GIS data. Engine version 3.09 and up include improved
photo management. The file name is Example 4.exe.
Topic: World map. Countries of the World
including larger cities. This map can be edited to
suit your personal interests and learn
the geography of places in the news. Just out of
curiosity I mapped the planned sailing route of the
Titanic, position of impact, and the wreck location by applying
easily found data from the internet. Shows the great
circle and rhumb line course layout. The epicenter of the
Tsunami of 26th Dec 2004 was mapped as a simple point, just to
see where in the world it was. Engine version 3.12 supports rhumb
line measurements. The file name is Example 5.exe.
